Out of Norm Travels - Theme parks & trailer parks (Gold Coast Australia)

Did a 'theme parks' round at Gold Coast Australia complete with a stay at a trailer park. Didn't plan it that way but that's how it turned out as Treasure Island Resort is actually Treasure Island Caravan Park. It's closer to the theme parks but not so much actually as you have to take 2 buses to get to the Wet n Wild, Movie World & Dream World. Sea World is another direction. We managed with 2 kids in tow to traverse the Gold Coast area of theme parks and overdid on burgers and pizzas binge-ing (nothing much else to eat in Australia anyway) in a whirlwind 5D4N trip.

Kudos to my husband for braving the 19 degree temperatures complete with wind and rain topped up with a 4am wake up call for a 9am flight. Will recommend a similar trip but complete with a stay at Surfers Paradise if you are not too keen on 5 or 6pm shop closures and nothing else to do in the evenings with limited bus access during evenings and weekends.

This is a tick of my "to-do" list - Climb the Great Wall of China. There was never a doubt in my mind that I will do this climb & I was fortunate enough to do it again before I turn half century old.  Unlike my recollection of my first trip up along the Great Wall where I had little time to explore the Great Wall, this trip was arranged specially to ensure that I got to travel from one end of the Wall to another. As a result, I got to spend a significant time taking photos of the journey up along the Wall (without the thousands of best friends that would get their head into the picture). Out of Norm Travels -2010 - Bhutan 11-20 June 2010- Day 1

Reminiscing of my 1st Photo trip with my DSLR - Bhutan, the Land of the Dragons aka Happiest Place in the World.  I woke up at 3a.m. in Bangkok for a 3.50a.m. checkin for the 5.50a.m. flight using Bhutan ’s national carrier, “ Druk Air ”, the only flight that travels from Bangkok to the only airport in Bhutan that is in the area of Paro. We touched down in Paro at 750a.m. Bhutan is 1 hour behind Bangkok i.e. 2 hours behind Singapore .   The touchdown was fairly exciting as the plane had to navigate through a maze of the mountains and valleys and flight path was almost in a zigzag manner. I managed to get exciting birds-eye view of the flight path. For the first few moments after touchdown, passengers like me was busy taking photos of the exquisite airport with the intricate carvings and paintings. Out of Norm Travels - Longmen Grottoes @ Luoyang

Flying out from Beijing to Luoyang ( simplified Chinese :  洛阳 ;  traditional Chinese :  洛陽 ;  pinyin :  Luòyáng)  is certainly not high on the travel itineraries of many - quite a few not having even heard or visited this place, not even those hailing from China.  It is thus with much anticipation that I took an internal flight to this city  located in the Henan p rovince  which was once 1 out of the 4 Great Ancient Capitals of China (other 3 are Beijing, Nanjing and Changan (Xian)) to spend the night. My main aim was the visit to Luoyang Grottoes, which was listed by UNESCO in 2000 as a World Heritage Site.  Luoyang Grottoes simplified Chinese 龙门石窟 traditional Chinese 龍門石窟 pinyin Dragon's Gate Grottoes - I can only say " MAGNIFICENT".....I have never seen so many thousands of Buddhist statues carved into limestone caves.   One advice to  travelers  is to start early in the morning and spend more time at th...
