Out of Norm Travels -2010 - Bhutan 11-20 June 2010- Day 1

Reminiscing of my 1st Photo trip with my DSLR - Bhutan, the Land of the Dragons aka Happiest Place in the World.  I woke up at 3a.m. in Bangkok for a 3.50a.m. checkin for the 5.50a.m. flight using Bhutan ’s national carrier, “ Druk Air ”, the only flight that travels from Bangkok to the only airport in Bhutan that is in the area of Paro. We touched down in Paro at 750a.m. Bhutan is 1 hour behind Bangkok i.e. 2 hours behind Singapore .   The touchdown was fairly exciting as the plane had to navigate through a maze of the mountains and valleys and flight path was almost in a zigzag manner. I managed to get exciting birds-eye view of the flight path. For the first few moments after touchdown, passengers like me was busy taking photos of the exquisite airport with the intricate carvings and paintings. This is me reminiscing about my past travels as I am not sure when I will be able to start traveling anytime soon. ]  Harry Potter Themed Activities in London Here is my recommended list of Harry Potter themed activities when in London:  1. 'Tour for Muggles'  http://www.tourformuggles.com; June 2018 Photos taken at the Tour for Muggles  An appropriately themed tour, ' Tour for Muggles ' is one filled with Harry Potter snippets. I am "Muggle", and referred as such in the wizarding world as I am a non-magic person.   We dived into Harry Potter land at  Borough Market  at London bridge. As every Potter-fan knows, Borough market is a must visit for many scenes of the Potter series. It is after all, the location of the Leaky Cauldron in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'! Out of Norm Travels - Ko Kret (Island in the middle of Bangkok City), Thailand

Ko Kret or Koh Kred aka Pak Kret is essentially an Island in the middle of Bangkok City, Thailand along the Chao Praya River. Interesting to see the Mon tribe residing at this  island which was created back in 18th century when a canal was constructed  and eventually due to widening, created an island. The tribe retained a distinct identity in their version of Buddhism and, particularly at Ko Kret, their pottery. Did a round boat trip with a drop-off at the pottery, local temple and the biggest Buddha by the river.  Although it is within Bangkok Koh Kret is  another world compared to Bangkok as much of the island is what you would imagine rustic Bangkok with wooden planks at your feet and a certain village air where everyone knows everyone stays in the same area come out to greet each other for the day before going about their business.
